Dog Attacks
Girones Law handles the legal and financial aspects of dog attacks, helping you focus on recovery while securing the compensation you deserve.
Who can sue for a dog attack?

In addition to ordering a dog owner to compensate the injured victim, Ontario courts have the ability to make particular orders to protect public safety. This may include removing a dog from its owner’s care, having a dog destroyed, requiring that the owner keep a dog muzzled and leashed in public and even prohibiting an owner from having any dogs for a particular period of time. What’s more, if the dog owner owns a home, the home insurance policy may apply and cover attack-related damages. Limitations and rules of course apply, but any severe dog attack certainly should be investigated by a law firm.
If you have been injured by a dog, the experienced dog bite injury lawyers at Girones can help you to obtain the compensation that you deserve. The amount of compensation to which you are entitled may vary depending on:
- The severity of your injury
- The amount of work that you missed as a result of the injury
- Whether you require surgery or ongoing therapy to regain the full use of the injured area
- The circumstances surrounding the attack and the behaviour of the owner, or
- Any behaviour on your part that may have contributed to the attack.
