Employee Rights do Matter

While your employment can be terminated by your employer for no reason at all they must do it in proper and legal manner. Wrongful dismissal occurs when the employer terminates an employee’s job without providing either:

  • The minimum statutory notice to the employee (this is typically one week of notice for each year of employment up to 8 weeks), and/or
  • Pay in lieu of notice, which should include all benefits and vacation pay to which the employee would have been entitled during their notice period.
