Property owners are responsible for maintaining their property so it is safe for those using it. This is true whether the property in question is a private residence, a business or public property. Proper maintenance will generally include shovelling walkways in the winter and keeping them clear of ice and snow, as well as ensuring that there are no tripping hazards such as uneven ground or obstacles lying on walkways.
